'I was really confused by this and called my friend at work, who told me that rumours had been circulating that I had just used a fake illness to get an extra week in Spain while on sick pay'
While I was on holiday in Spain a few weeks back, I was taken very ill. I saw a doctor straight away and sent my employer a sick note to cover me for the rest of my holiday and the following week.
Towards the end of this period, I got a letter from my manager asking me to send in copies of my airline tickets. This got me really angry and I have refused to hand over the tickets. Can my employer stop my pay if I don’t hand them over? However, if there are any concerns around misuse of leave entitlement then I’d expect most employers would want to be able to verify matters.
