Great British Bake Off's Paul Hollywood opens up about 'horrendous' experience of show moving to Channel 4
The jump reportedly promised double his original salary, which he claims he was paid for seven years on the BBC original, but this angered some people.
"No one wants to be painted as the pantomime villain, especially when I was just sticking with a job I loved. But you can't kick against it," Hollywood said."David Walliams actually took me aside and said: 'Mate, it's just a game. Enjoy it.' You're clickbait, basically." Hollywood said the comments were hurtful, but that he developed a thick skin after a while and learnt to brush off the comments:"It hurt me. After a while, though, I got tough. I just thought: 'OK, I'll be your bad guy'."
