Plenty of dry weather lies ahead this weekend, but temperatures will plunge to as low as -3 degrees at times

A dry and settled, if slightly chilly, St. Patrick’s weekend lies ahead on the weather front, spelling good news for the many set to participate in parades across the country.

Unlike last weekend, however, there will be little warmth to accompany the otherwise pleasant conditions, with temperatures barely set to crack double figures from Friday through to Monday and plunging to below freezing at night. Those cold conditions will continue into Saturday morning, but will clear for another dry and bright day, with plenty of sunshine but little warmth, with temperatures again reaching no higher than 9 degrees during the day and dipping to lows of -1 at night.

Tuesday will be breezier but will have a good deal of sunshine and while Met Éireann has not yet published a detailed forecast, the days after that are set to be more of a mixed bag than the uneventful conditions of the last week or so.This morning, showery outbreaks will continue in the east and south with hail possible. Brighter conditions with sunshine and isolated showers elsewhere will spread across the country through the afternoon.
