The search for missing Waterford man Mark Myler has ended after a body was discovered. Gardai, the Irish Coast Guard, and Waterford Marine Search and Rescue had been searching for Myler since he was reported missing on December 7th.
A multi-agency search operation to find a missing Waterford man has been stood down following the discovery of a body on Tuesday. Gardai, members of the Irish Coast Guard and dedicated volunteers from Waterford Marine Search and Rescue (WMSR) stopped their search for Mark Myler from Waterford city following the discovery of a body on Tuesday morning, December 31.
Myler, 38, had been missing from his home in the city since Wednesday, December 4 after being last seen in the John's Street area of the city. Mark was reported missing by Gardai on Saturday morning, December 7. The WMSR team and the Irish Coast Guard later launched a major search effort, combing the River Suir and surrounding lands using boats and drones over the past three weeks, including Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day. Upon the discovery of the body, a spokesperson for WMSR said: 'The search for missing Waterford man Mark Myler has now ended with the discovery and subsequent recovery of a body this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and families at this time. May he rest in peace.' A Garda spokesperson said: 'Following the discovery of a body of a male in Waterford this morning 31st December 2024, a missing person appeal in respect of 38-year-old Mark Myler who was reported missing from his home in Waterford city on Saturday, 7th December 2024, has been stood down. 'No further media action is required and no further information is available at this time. We would like to thank the public for their assistance.
