Jay Slater, 19, vanished in a remote part of the Spanish Island of Tenerife while holidaying with friends and now a new theory has emerged claiming he may have boarded a yacht to escape.

A shocking new theory suggests that missing teenager Jay Slater, who disappeared from Tenerife, could be alive after escaping on a yacht.

Now, internet detectives reckon he might have hopped on a yacht to "escape" following reports that he had stolen a Rolex just hours before he went missing. Detective Mark Williams-Thomas, who jetted out to Tenerife to help with the search, revealed that the teenager had posted a video on Snapchat bragging about stealing a £12,000 Rolex, reports the Mirror.

The region boasts numerous coves and beaches which could potentially hide a boat like the one Jay might have been taken to. This development follows a theory by an expert who posited that Jay's phone may have been hurled into the hills, accounting for its last known GPS ping in a treacherous and impenetrable area.
