A major incident was declared after one person was killed and others were left injured
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the stabbings in Southport, Merseyside Police have said. The teenager, from the Banks area, is in custody to be questioned.
Paramedics have so far rushed eight people to hospital following the stabbing attacks. Witnesses say the attack took place at a Taylor Swift themed dance and yoga class. Merseyside Police has now said a 17-year-old boy, from the village of Banks, was arrested and is set to be questioned following the 'major incident'. The force has also confirmed that the incident is not currently being treated as terror-related.
A new statement issued by Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that a 17-year-old male from Banks, who was arrested in connection to the stabbing in Southport this morning, Monday 29 July, remains in police custody and will be questioned about the incident.
