Young Dean O’Riordan had his long-awaited meeting with Cork siblings James and Paddy McCarthy in Mayfield at a local club soccer game
A 10-year-old boy finally reunited at the weekend with the hero brothers who saved him from drowning two-and-a-half years ago.
On August 12, 2022, Dean was playing in the ocean at Youghal Beach with his father Darren when he was suddenly dragged 300 yards out to sea by a powerful riptide. Speaking to this newspaper, Siobhan said when they reunited with Dean they didn’t even talk about that incident in Youghal and instead acted like “old friends catching up.”
Siobhan had been in touch with James and Paddy on social media ever since the incident but they never had a chance to meet in person.
