After a legendary 50-year career, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are retiring from performing. The iconic duo will say farewell with a special performance on Dancing On Ice, before embarking on their final UK tour, 'Our Last Dance'. While they are stepping away from the rink as performers, Torvill and Dean will remain on the judging panel of Dancing On Ice.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are set to enchant fans one final time on Dancing on Ice, bidding farewell with a performance that marks the end of an incredible 50-year journey on ice. The pre-recorded emotional segment showcases the iconic pair, whose crowning achievement was their Bolero routine at the 1984 Winter Olympics, winning a gold medal. As they announced their retirement from performing, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

The duo are preparing for their upcoming UK arena tour, fittingly titled 'Our Last Dance'. The couple's goodbye performance, crafted specifically for the Dancing On Ice finale, will also stand out during their farewell tour's run. Pre-recording the act was due to time limits, allowing the skating legends to perfect every detail meticulously. At 66, Christopher doesn't shy away from mentioning his age and how it contrasts with the length of their career. He confessed: 'We've been doing it a long time and people our age shouldn't be doing it now, so we're just happy that we can still do it.', reports the Mirror. In a heartfelt discussion with The Sun, he added: 'This will be our last live skate on Dancing On Ice because we're doing our final tour this year. So once we've finished our last skate on the tour, we won't be performing again.'Ice-skating legends Jayne, 67, and Christopher might be leaving the rink behind, but they're not bidding farewell to Dancing On Ice and will remain on the judging panel. The duo has reassured their legion of fans that they'll continue influencing the show with their expertise, guiding a new era of ice dancers with their wisdom. Revealing the news to The Mirror last year, Torvill and Dean shared how after enchanting the world for 40 years, the time has come to retire from touring. In an emotional conversation, they opened up making the decision to draw things to a close. Chris reflected: 'I think there comes a time when you know. We're not spring chickens any more, but we're still able to do it to a certain degree we feel good about it, but that will go. 'This is the right time for us to be able to do that and go and skate and do some of the old routines, be very nostalgic, but then do some new fun, upbeat with friends of ours from the skating world and from Dancing On Ice. We'll have a sense of pride as well, I think, of what we've done. I think we'll get reflective and look at it not in a sad way but in a happy way.' The pair are also looking forward to some well-deserved rest away from the spotlight. Jayne plans to spend quality time with hubby Phil Christensen in Spain, while Christopher and his partner Karen want to travel across the UK in their motor home. Torvill and Dean first teamed up in 1975 and quickly ascended to become the UK's most beloved ice dancers. Their gold medal triumph at the Sarajevo Olympics in 1984 is a moment forever imprinted in the annals of sports history. The duo made a return to amateur competition in 1994, securing a bronze medal. Their influence on British ice dancing remains unparalleled, and their legacy continues through Dancing On Ice and the countless skaters they have inspired
