Bruce Springsteen delivered a heartfelt homage to Shane MacGowan in his latest Irish show on Sunday night, kicking off the gig with a 'stunning' rendition of a classic song by The Pogues. The Boss, deeply connected to Co Kilkenny , honoured the Irish music legend with an emotional performance of A Rainy Night in Soho, originally released by The Pogues in 1986.
Springsteen's powerful cover of A Rainy Night in Soho resonated with fans, who took to social media to express their moved reactions, with one fan admitting the performance gave them "shivers" and another confessing: "Yeah okay, this made my eyes leak a little bit. Such a gracious tribute to the man, Shane McG."The Pogues themselves acknowledged the tribute on their official account, expressing gratitude with the words: "Lovely tribute to our boss, thanks Bruce.
In mourning MacGowan's loss, Springsteen, along with the E Street Band, expressed their sorrow, with The Boss stating: "Over here on E Street, we are heartbroken over the death of Shane MacGowan. Shane was one of my all-time favorite writers."
