With Budget 2025 scheduled for October 1st, speculation is rife about the cost of living package. Ministers are hinting at tax cuts for low and middle-income earners, increased childcare provisions, free school books, and support for energy bills, rent, and mortgage payments.

It was reported that a cut in the Universal Social Charge is expected in the Budget, with it said to be similar to last year's cut which was half a per cent. However, unlike other years, the support would be paid out by the end of December of this year, instead of being paid in instalments between December and March, due to new EU laws.It has been reported that there will be two sets of lump sums payments before the end of the year.

Instead, Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, has spoken about reducing the age limit to 66 as part of Budget 2025 negotiations.
