CEO at the social justice think-tank John McGeady said: "Recent research from the Irish Hospice Foundation shows that 30,000 households every year are impacted by a bereavement with many facing difficult and unforeseen costs. Eligibility was not related to a person’s ability to pay for a funeral but was based on PRSI contributions.
