Gearoid McKiernan, a key player in Cavan's 2020 Ulster title win, is rejoining the Cavan GAA team for the 2025 season.
Gearoid McKiernan is set to return to the Cavan colours for the 2025 season . According to the Anglo Celt, McKiernan is rejoining the panel under manager and former teammate Raymond Galligan having sat out this year. One of the stars of Cavan ’s Ulster title win of 2020, he was in fine form for Cavan Gaels this year and has apparently been coaxed back.
McKiernan will turn 35 next year but has arguably been Cavan’s outstanding player in recent times and his return can only be interpreted as a boost for the side, as they start out in Division Two next year. Indeed, McKiernan’s accuracy from distance should make him a potent weapon with the advent of the new two-pointer in 2025. Galligan’s squad had already been boosted by goalkeeper Nevin O’Donnell’s decision to declare for his native county again after lining out for Leitrim, while Ramor United netminder Sean McEvoy is also involved after a three-year stint playing soccer in America. In addition, Galligan has called up Peter Devine (Ballymachugh), Michael Brady (Ballyhaise), Ruairi Curran (Swanlinbar), Luke Molloy (Cavan Gaels), Cormac McKeogh (Mullahoran), Thomas Edward Donohoe (Denn), Sean Clarke (Shercock), Ben McGahan (Cootehill Celtic), Darragh Dolan (Drumlane) and Barry Donnelly (Arva).
