It has been a positive start to the league phase for Celtic and Rangers - but much more is required

It has been a flying start for Scottish clubs to the group stage of the revamped European league phases - but we are still a long way off the Premiership winners automatically regaining their Champions League spot.

While Aberdeen and Kilmarnock failed to overcome the Europa League playoff rounds, they added 3.5 and 1 point the tally respectively. As UEFA average out the tally, 9.75 was the final count. As is stands, Scotland have averaged a coefficient tally of 3 this term - which is dwarfed by the massive haul banked back in 2019/20. As it stands we have cut the gap on 16th placed Greece to 0.2 points and on Denmark to 0.275 points in 15th.
