The opening race of this year's Cheltenham Festival has been renamed in honour of Michael O'Sullivan's after the young jockey's tragic death this month.

Now the Jockey Club and Sky Bet have announced that this year's race will run in memory of the Corkman who passed away at 24 years old on 16 February from injuries sustained in a fall at Thurles 10 days earlier. “As a family, we have always admired Michael’s achievements both on and off the track, and it means so much to us to see his talent recognised in this way. The outpouring of tributes over the past week has been a testament to the impact he had on so many lives.
