A Dublin bridge that became a viral sensation after being covered in frozen cherry tomatoes is no longer the quirky attraction it once was. The thawed tomatoes were removed, leaving behind only memories of the unique spectacle.

A Dublin bridge, playfully nicknamed the 'Cherry Tomato Bridge,' has lost its fruity fame after dozens of thawed cherry tomatoes were swept onto railway tracks below. The structure, a 230-year-old bridge in Drumcondra, became an unexpected tourist attraction when rows of cherry tomatoes, left on the bridge during a recent cold snap, froze over and attracted viral attention.

The frozen tomatoes sparked a wave of interest, with TikTokers flocking to the site, adding more cherry tomatoes, tins of tomatoes, ketchup, and even dry spaghetti to the growing display. The quirky spectacle even earned a 5-star rating on tourism websites, with one reviewer gushing, 'There is nowhere on earth like it; it is truly a special place. You can just feel the magic.'However, the fun came to an abrupt end when the deep freeze thawed, and the bridge's tomato-laden charm was removed. Oliver Callan, a comedian on RTE radio, joked that the bridge could now be called the 'Cherry Tomato Memorial Bridge,' adding, 'But, if you’re planning to see it, your hopes will be squashed because somebody has removed all the cherry tomatoes. They were pushed off the bridge and onto the railway tracks. The tomatoes are no longer there.' A Dublin City Council spokesperson confirmed the removal, stating, 'We are aware of food being presented on Drumcondra bridge and will be cleaning and inspecting the site daily. It is asked that food is not discarded and wasted in this manner.
