It comes after a flurry of incidents since hot weather returned to Merseyside

The Coastguard are warning people against taking inflatables in the water with them as the hot weather continues.

It comes after Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team were called to a flurry of incidents in the North West where both adults and children found themselves cut off by the tide. Over Monday, September 4, and Tuesday, September 5, there were five of these incidents in Wirral alone. One of those incidents saw a large number of people in different groups being cut off by the tide in Leasowe Bay. Some of those trapped were waist deep in a flood gully.

We’re asking the public to do their bit and make sure they’re as prepared as possible for their trip to the coast.

“It can be very dangerous being cut off by the tide, there is no warning or escape route. The Coastguard is always ready to respond but there are simple steps to take to reduce that risk.“Geoff Simmons, Coastguard Rescue officer, is also advising people in Merseyside to leave their inflatables at home, or wear a lifejacket if they are using bodyboards and paddle boards.
