A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Maureen Folan, a beloved Galway woman, rebuild her home after it was destroyed by Storm Éowyn. The fundraiser aims to raise €100,000 to support her through temporary housing, reconstruction, and other essential needs.

A fundraiser has been launched to support a 'truly remarkable' Galway woman after her life was 'turned upside down' by the devastation of Storm Éowyn . Maureen Folan , a widow who lives alone in Galway , is known and loved far and wide throughout the community for her 'warmth, generosity, and unshakable kindness', as well as her hospitality - being known for going above and beyond for anyone.

Sadly, along with many other homes and businesses around the country, her home, which has been in her family for generations, was destroyed during the powerful Storm Éowyn. Maureen's roof was completely blown off, her belongings were scattered across fields, and the house suffered severe structural damage. Unfortunately, due to certain circumstances, insurance is not able to cover the costs, which is where the local community, as well as her friends and family, have stepped in. A GoFundMe has been launched to help the beloved Galway woman, to help her 'rebuild - not just a house, but a home'. All of the funds raised will go towards supporting Maureen during this journey, including temporary housing, reconstruction and more, ensuring that she has the resources to 'restore her home to the warm, welcoming haven it has always been. 'It is very difficult to set an accurate target for something like this, however what we would like to stress is that no contribution is too small, and every little bit helps,' a post on GoFundMe read. 'If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your network can also make a huge difference. 'Let’s show Maureen the same love and kindness she’s always shown to others and remind her that she’s not alone in this. 'Thank you so much for your support—together, we can help Maureen get back on her feet.' So far, the GoFundMe has raised €30,480 out of its €100,000 target.
