The jury found Mr Lawrence did not rape Ms Hand, but the judge said it was not for the reasons he put forward in his defence. He said the jury clearly believed Ms Hand and did not believe Mr McGregor and Mr Lawrence who were in "lockstep" in the case and it would be completely inappropriate to award costs to Mr Lawrence.
