Portugal beat Czechia 2-1 in their Euro 2024 opener
Conor McGregor claims he has placed a €60,000 bet on Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot at Euro 2024 .
Roberto Martinez's side ran out 2-1 winners thanks to a late winner from substitute Francisco Conceicao. The Porto winger hit the winner in stoppage time minutes after coming on as a substitute in Leipzig. The Czechs clung on bravely against a barrage of Portugal pressure, but were ultimately undone as the substitute Conceicao lashed the ball home on his competitive debut to seal the win.
During the match, McGregor posted a photo on social media of a €60,000 bet placed on Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot at enhanced odds of 14/1. The bet will return €900,000 if the former Real Madrid and Manchester United scoops the award once again.
