Davis was on the scoresheet as Drogheda beat Shelbourne on Friday night.
Drogheda United continued their fine start to the season with a 1-0 win over defending champions Shelbourne at Tolka Park on Friday night.
Davis, who is the cousin of MMA fighter Conor McGregor, battled hard to win the ball back high up the pitch before cutting inside and whipping a beautiful strike into the far corner with his right foot. With just four minutes on the clock at the time of the wonder-goal, there was plenty of time for Shels to get back into the game. The Drogs however showed their steel and shut out the Dublin giants to record a massive win and keep their fairytale start to the season going.
“We just needed that bit of x-factor, maybe asking them to do the opposite of what I have asked them to do, popping out of your position, taking on the full back.“The turnovers came to us in the second half. Frustration forced things. Maybe you leave your position and are open to counter-attacks.”
