Cookie the dog was in the Pasadena shelter for months. A trip to Texas Roadhouse finally led her home
For Berenice Aldape, having Cookie back home a year after she went missing is a Christmas miracle. The Pasadena family was recently reunited with their beloved 3-year old boxer mix, Cookie, after a year of searching, praying and eventually losing faith that they would find her.
“We’ve had her since she was a puppy, and I trained her to go outside, to give me a kiss and give me her paw -- everything,” Aldape said. Gertie became a staff favorite and it looked like she was going to become one of the shelter’s longer stay residents. She was a fixture on the shelter’s social media and at adoption events.
On this afternoon the Pasadena Animal Shelter was hosting an adoption event in the restaurant parking lot and Arguello’s daughter, Leslie, immediately noticed a familiar set of lopsided ears that belonged to one of the shelter pets up for adoption, named Gertie.
