He misled the investigation by supplying a “decoy” phone, police documents show
A former Northamptonshire Police officer said "malicious complaints" made against him were "because he was male", a misconduct tribunal heard. PS Dale Iniff, who has since resigned from the force, faced several charges against him at a hearing held on July 27 and 28.
Police documents say the female's sexuality had been the subject of "banter" and that Iniff was aware of her orientation and his behaviour was "motivated by his grievance" regarding the misconduct investigation against him.It was "deliberate targeting of a colleague" and there was an "attempt to conceal wrongdoing" in respect of breaching his bail conditions, along with a persistent denial when confronted with phone records.
The panel heard that Iniff had apparently bought a new phone the day after he became aware of a potential criminal investigation.At NorthantsLive we're more than just news. But the panel noted it had no direct medical evidence of any mental health diagnosis.
It "appeared to suggest that he had been discriminated against by the police on the basis of being male and being a police officer" and the "malicious allegations" were not treated impartially by investigators. The panel said it would have enforced dismissal without notice as the "the only appropriate and proportionate outcome" had he not already resigned.
