Margret and her sister Maureen, also called Maura, were born and reared in Cork, and after Maureen passed away in America, Margret wanted to bring her sister home
Margret Long is searching for her sister's missing remains, after a postal mix up meant that her ashes never reached their intended destination.
Her son posted half of the ashes on July 21st, 2021, and another parcel containing some of Maureen's jewellery. An Post was able to confirm that the parcels got to Ireland, but were then sent on to London to be returned to America. "Ashes are allowed in to Ireland, but they need to be in something that was x-rayed, and hers were in a small urn," Margret said.
