RTE presenter Maura Derrane speaks about her new appreciation for life and the importance of family following the death of her sister Rita from cancer last year. The Today Show co-host has since reduced her workload to spend more time with loved ones.
Maura Derrane has a new appreciation for life and is more aware of her own mortality following the sad death of her sister Rita.
Rita's illness was a contributing factor in Maura's decision to lessen her workload on The Today Show, which she co-hosts with Daithi O'Se. The Galway native decided to stop working on Mondays and Tuesdays in order to spend more quality time with her family. "When I made the decision, my sister was really ill at the time, so it was important to me to have time with her. I'm glad that I had that time with her, it was incredibly important to me." "Rita had a very hard time. She had three years of a terminal illness; she went through a lot of hardship and pain. She had such a zest for life. She was addicted to fashion, more than me," she told the RTE Guide.
