Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has spoken about the Copa America after being involved in fracas with Uruguay against Colombia last week
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has expressed his sadness at failing to reach the Copa America final as he waits to discover any punishment for his part in the ugly scenes that followed Uruguay's controversial semi-final exit. Nunez was part of the Uruguay side beaten 1-0 by Colombia at the penultimate hurdle last week, a result that sparked pandemonium after the final whistle in North Carolina in the United States.
Nunez was spotted climbing the railings into the stands to confront supporters and appeared to throw his hands towards some Colombia fans, and was later seen on the pitch hugging his son. South American football's governing body Conmebol is currently investigating the incident. And Nunez has now reflected on the tournament - in which Uruguay beat Canada to seal third place at the weekend - without addressing the incident. 'My first Copa America,' posted Nunez on social media.
