The pair of DJs were friends up until Gerry's death in 2010, at the age of just 53, and the broadcasters and their families even lived together for a couple of months
Broadcaster Dave Fanning has opened up about his friendship with legendary radio presenter Gerry Ryan.
Touching on that friendship, Dave shared an anecdote about Gerry, with a culinary habit leading to some unusual restaurant orders. "Gerry will never be replaced, as a friend or professionally, we all know that. I truly believe that he revolutionised broadcasting in Ireland.” "So Gerry generously invited us and our two kids, who were under the age of three, to stay in his house for a few months. Apart from the four of us there was Gerry and Morah plus their three kids, a dog or two, something in a cage in the kitchen and a minder or two."
They are also parents to three children; Jack, Robert and Hayley. Speaking to RSVP about his kids, Dave revealed that one son is a qualified accountant, while daughter Hayley is still studying in Trinity College Dublin.
