Davy admits himself and his son don’t always agree on things, but he is always happy to offer his advice and expertise
Davy Fitzgerald is very proud of his eldest son Colm, who has followed his footsteps into GAA coaching.
He told RSVP Magazine: “Colm is very strong minded and very ambitious. I don’t know where he gets that from! . “I’m not going to push him. Certainly I’ll be there for him, if that is what he wants to do but I’m not going to tell him he has to pick up a hurley,” he said. Davy leads a busy life between family and work commitments. In the near future, he hopes to prioritise spending time with his boys.
“I have business and work things that are important to me, but once my family is happy and healthy I can spend time with them and my mam, dad and sister too, I would be content with that.”He added: “It might have taken me a while to realise that. Things in life come and go, sometimes you can find different bits hard to deal with. Every family goes through stuff, there is no family out there that doesn’t, that will always happen.
