A huge crowd is expected for the first meeting of two non-Dublin sides in the decider since 2018
Derry City and Drogheda United go head to head at the Aviva Stadium this afternoon in the FAI Cup final.Derry City are looking for their seventh Cup victory and their second in three years after beating Shelbourne in the 2022 finale. But the Candystripes are on a two-game losing streak after a poor finish to the season saw them miss out on a top-three finish in the League of Ireland.
Kevin Doherty's side finished ninth in the League this year and face Bray Wanderers next weekend in the Promotion/Relegation play-off.So it is 5-4-1 for Drogheda versus 4-3-3 for Derry. Derry aim to secure more possession and outnumber Drogheda on the flanks. So, far, Drogheda have settled quicker.Nervy enough start from Derry, whose passing has been poor. Pierrot is a real target for Drogheda. Three times now he has nearly got in behind the Derry defence. No shots yet.
Shane Farrell, Darragh Markey and captain, Ryan Brennan, will be in midfield with Frantz Pierrot and Douglas James Taylor up front. Thanks for joining us as we look forward to this year's FAI Cup final between Derry City and Drogheda United.
