Darcy from Derry is a hot favourite to be crowned the winner of this year's Rose of Tralee festival but instead she is focusing on shining a spotlight on her native county
Derry Rose Darcy Taylor doesn’t feel any pressure after being named favourite to win the Rose of on Tuesday night.
However, the 25-year-old Derry girl isn’t paying attention to bookies odds and just wants to soak up the fun the next few days will bring. Darcy is excited to join hosts Daithi O’Se and Kathryn Thomas on stage and thinks it will be an emotional moment. The support from her fellow Roses is willing her to give it her best shot.
Darcy’s native county has propelled into global fame in recent years thanks to the success of Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls. She has noticed the change in people’s attitude towards the county as a result and this fills her with immense pride.
