DIIV will play their debut headline show at Vicar Street, Dublin on March 14
DIIV are gearing up for their long-awaited debut headline Irish show in Vicar Street this week ahead of the band’s newest record dropping.
“I personally love being in the studio and if that was able to pay money the way that touring did, then I think we'd put out more records,” drummer Ben Newman said.“We spent like a year in the studio, so it wasn't the typical, you rent the studio for a month and then you finish. It was kind of a more prolonged process. It's different. I like touring, too, but it is hard.”
The Story of B The LP’s title references a 1996 philosophical novel written by Daniel Quinn which follows a young priest as he moves away from religion towards the environmentalist teachings of B. “I started reading it, and my stop came and went, and I just stayed reading the book. I never went back to that job. It had a really big impact on me, in a negative way at the time, because I was like, ‘Oh, everything is meaningless. All of this. I'm never working again.’
“I feel like that's, I wouldn't say it's a theme of the record, but it sort of is. We're seeing the end of this civilization through different lenses.
