Locals in disbelief as someone takes a dump on St Patrick's Bridge in Cork city after €1.2 million refurbishment

There was disbelief in Cork city this morning after someone took a dump on newly refurbished St Patrick's Bridge.

The bridge was just re-opened on Saturday after a €1.2 million clean-up funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland and supported by Cork City Council. He said: "Last Saturday the bridge was opened by the Bishops and everyone, €1.2 million has been spent and a long number of weeks working on it and it looks fabulous.

"Then a day after St Patrick's Day someone has come along and taken a crap on the bridge. It's just unbelievable, you couldn't write it. "I'm hoping CCTV catches them and they are made do community work and clean up crap around the city of they think it's so funny."He added: "Do I think it's a dog or an animal that did this? No, I had to go back and take a picture because I just couldn't believe it.

"It's too high up for an animal and it had to be intentional, how convenient is it to be right where the work was done. The stonework on the 19th century heritage bridge was repainted, repaired and cleaned as part of the restoration while specialist repair work was undertaken on the bridge's lamp columns.Signage, traffic lights, and architectural lighting were also upgraded. We have contacted Cork City Council on the incident and are awaiting a comment.
