A recent study has highlighted a surprising link between a popular beverage and improved heart health - but the way you drink it could be the difference between success and failure

In a world increasingly focused on heart health, one simple drink could be the secret to lowering your cholesterol levels - but only if consumed in a certain way, according to a doctor. Recent research has unveiled an unexpected connection between this everyday beverage and enhanced heart health, highlighting how small tweaks to your daily habits could result in significant health improvements.

"However, to reap these benefits, it's vital to consume tea in the correct manner. Adding milk, sugar, or cream - a common practice - can diminish its effectiveness. Milk proteins bind to catechins, making them less available for your body to absorb and thus limiting their cholesterol-lowering effects," reports Surrey Live.

In fact, research shows that milk proteins can block up to 40% of the antioxidant properties in green tea, reducing its effectiveness in cholesterol management. Secondly, Dr Weil recommends choosing green or black tea: these varieties have the highest concentration of catechins.
