It’s not every day you get to see a four-year-old teach the basis of existentialism to their progenitors — but, thankfully for us, todayOver the weekend a clip of the Canadian superstar and his son spending time together started making the rounds on social media.
“Are you going to be much bigger than me?” Adonis suddenly asks his father, who we assume is filming from his phone. “Am I going to be much bigger than you? I don’t think so. You are pretty tall. Do you think you are going to be bigger than me?” Drake responds. After a quick segue from height to age, it was right then and there that Adonis saw fit to cut the small talk and get #real.? Can I teach you how to speak?” the toddler inquires. Drake gladly obliges — but little did he know, he was in for way more than a French lesson.
Skipping the formalities, Adonis begins, making his father repeat every word: “Une fois, quand je suis grand… très grand, tu vas mourir [et] tu vas retourner à l’universe." Adonis’s French might not be 100% perfect but his message is loud and clear. Here's a translation: “One day, when I’m big, you are going to die and you are going to return to the universe.”
After a quick interpreting session — by Adonis, of course — Drake is astounded. “What? Is that really what you said or now are you just making stuff up?” Same, Drake, same.
