Exclusive: Lifeguard logbooks that Dublin City Council didn't want you to see reveal a shocking pattern of antisocial behaviour at Dollymount Strand
Lifeguards at one of Dublin ’s top beaches have been issued with a dedicated sharps bin for syringes due to the volume of drugs paraphernalia being found along the shore.
The logbooks, which document a shocking pattern of antisocial behaviour at Dollymount Strand, were obtained by the Irish Mirror following a year-long attempt by Dublin City Council to block their release. The latest incident reports compiled by lifeguards at Dollymount, which cover the 2022 and 2023 bathing seasons, reveal a continuation of antisocial behaviour, and show that lifeguards now have their own sharps bins for disposing of syringes.
In July, lifeguards managed to put out a fire that had been started in the dunes, and gardaí had to be called in response to a “beach party” at Dollymount. An elderly lady was also knocked down by a bike.
