The incident happened in a pub car park
The man is believed to have been punched in the car park of the Clonsilla Inn on the Clonsilla Road in Dublin 15 shortly before 11pm last night.
Gardai and an ambulance rushed to the scene - and the man was transported to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, where his condition is being described as critical. A man in his 20s was also arrested at the scene. “A man in his 40s sustained serious injuries and was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he remains in critical condition,” a Garda spokesperson said.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of the premises at the time of the incident to come forward.
