Dublin Fire Brigade firefighters are being hailed as heroes after rescuing a cat named Biscuit from a house fire in Ballyfermot. The brave crew used a pet oxygen mask to revive the unconscious cat, and also safely rescued a budgie and a dog from the blaze.

Members of Dublin Fire Brigade were lauded as heroes after they successfully rescued a cat from a house fire in west Dublin earlier this week. A crew of firefighters from Dolphin\u2019s Barn responded to the scene of a fire at a property in Ballyfermot on Tuesday evening. As firefighters worked to contain the blaze, a team equipped with breathing apparatus discovered an unconscious cat named Biscuit.

Firefighter Carrick swiftly placed a pet oxygen mask on the animal and thankfully, Biscuit regained consciousness after ten minutes of treatment. In addition to Biscuit, firefighters also managed to rescue a budgie and a dog from the burning house, with both animals escaping unharmed. The fire crew continued to battle the fire until it was brought under control, and no serious injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. Taking to social media, a spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade shared the story: 'Firefighters from Dolphins Barn rescued Biscuit from a house fire in Ballyfermot yesterday evening. The cat was located by a BA crew and was unconscious. 'Firefighter 'Paw'amedic Carrick placed a pet oxygen mask on Biscuit and after 10 minutes, Biscuit was snuggling into its owner. A budgie and dog were also taken to safety but didn't require oxygen therapy. 'We are trialling pet oxygen masks, which are on 9 fire appliances, in two districts. We are working with @VillageVets to introduce them across the city. A'meeow'zing result!' The post garnered widespread praise from the public, with numerous social media users expressing gratitude to the Dublin Fire Brigade crew for their heroic actions. 'Heroes. Thank you for taking care of this Beautiful Fluff,' one person commented. 'The most wonderful people, saving so many lives, people and animals,' added another. 'Well done DFB heroes all of you,' a third user remarked, while another person declared: 'Aww well done! Real life heroes.
