A criminal serving a life sentence for a gangland murder in Dublin has been spared extra jail time after getting caught with a contraband mobile phone in custody.

Keogh appeared before Judge Michele Finan at Dublin District Court on Wednesday. He was accused of unlawfully possessing a mobile phone on December 22 while serving his sentence in Mountjoy Prison. Garda Doyle said the accused was serving a life sentence and had 23 prior convictions but none for possessing a contraband phone in prison.
