Despite owner Brian Ainscough's initial threat to liquidate Dundalk FC on Monday, negotiations with a prospective buyer have proven fruitful and talks will continue. Fans had expressed their deep concern over the club's potential closure, with many reaching out to supporters group chair Orla Crilly in tears. However, a meeting scheduled for Tuesday night aims to provide fans with information and guidance on navigating this challenging situation.
Dundalk supporters group chair Orla Crilly has detailed how fans were calling her in floods of tears over the news that the League of Ireland side could fold on Monday.
“I had so many people ringing me this morning, men and women in absolute floods of tears, about what the club meant to them and what they could do to help,” she said at Oriel Park on Monday evening, as hundreds of supporters gathered outside the ground. Crilly addressed the supporters that turned up at Oriel Park. Manager Jon Daly and several first-team players also made their way to the stadium to be with the fans on a day of great uncertainty for all associated with the club.
