Dunnes Stores has issued a product recall for two batches of Beechwood Smoked and Tomato and Herb cheddar due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The FSAI has urged customers who purchased these products to not consume them.
Dunnes Stores has issued a recall for two popular Christmas cheese products over fears of Listeria contamination. The popular supermarket chain is recalling several batches of Beechwood Smoked and Tomato and Herb Wicklow cheddar, which may contain traces of Listeria monocytogenes.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) released a statement saying: 'Dunnes Stores is recalling the below batches of its Beechwood Smoked and Tomato and Herb Wicklow Cheddar due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.' The affected products are the Beechwood Smoked cheddar with batch code 24182 and a use-by date 28/02/2025, and the Tomato and Herb cheddar with batch code 24302 and 09/02/2025. Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes include flu-like symptoms as well as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. According to the FSAI, 'in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications. Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.' Customers who have purchased from the affected batches are being urged not to consume any.
