The way the FAI works isn't 'normal' and Irish football deserves better
The CEO, Jonathan Hill, lives in a different country. The FAI pretends this is normal.One of the CEO’s main jobs is to find a new sponsor for the national men’s team. That takes him years.
Another task that the CEO has to oversee is the appointment of a manager for the national men’s team. Yet all the talk since Kenny left has been of Carsley. It would have been easy for the FAI CEO to nip that in the bud, but maybe he was too busy. This is a man who won 10 major medals with Manchester United during a period when they were consistently one of the best teams in the world.He even went into goals in one game, and was also deployed as an emergency striker.
In March, 2008, he described him as a “superb professional’’ and went on to make clear just how highly he values the Waterford man. There are no guarantees when it comes to management; some of the all time playing greats were never able to make the transition.
