Holly was speaking ahead of The Paddy’s Day Dip 2025
Former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter has opened up about her “tough” Christmas after her father Karl was admitted to hospital with a mysterious infection.
“When something like that happens, you just focus on your family. It brought us all really close together. He’s still in and out of hospital until they figure it out. Since her Dad Karl's cancer diagnosis in 2020, Holly and her fiancée Jamie Hunt wanted to do even more to support the Marie Keating Foundation cancer support services, which are provided free of charge to anyone who needs them.Holly's fiancé, Jamie, also understands the pain of seeing a loved one face a cancer diagnosis. His father Keith was diagnosed with terminal cancer and sadly passed away in September 2024.
“So it distracted us from all of the sadness that was happening. It was so nice to have something to work on together.” “He was a true testament to the benefits of sea swimming and that age is just a number. We would often join him for an early morning swim in his hometown of Kinsale whenever Holly and I were visiting.
