Given that the figure stands at €1,000, the person who donated to Mr Hayes is willing to be named in the statement the newly-elected TD will provide to the Standards in Public Office Commission. A number of other Social Democrats TDs had GoFundMe pages including Sinéad Gibney who raised over €16,000 for her European and Dáil campaigns. All her donations were below the allowable threshold.In a statement on Tuesday night, Mr Hayes said he intends to sit as an Independent TD once the Dáil resumes on December 18th.
