The Fairbanks Department of Transportation has begun the preparations to repair the Mitchell Expressway Bridge over South Cushman with construction beginning in May and ending by June 1st.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Department of Transportation has begun the preparations to repair the Mitchell Expressway Bridge over South Cushman.

“There’s been a lot of evaluation that’s been going on,” Tessen explained. “What people can expect is the work should be through the month of May, for two to three weeks. We will have some closures. We’ll know more specifics for the detours and those closures as we get closer, but we will be working to repair the bridge so we will have some closures in place. We’re hoping to do so before any other construction projects have impacts in the near area.
