Shae Marlow, 16, died after the Volkswagen Golf he was driving ploughed into a stone gatepost.

The parents of a teenager killed in a horrific road crash say his death threatened to tear their family apart, as cruel online commenters claimed that he had deserved to die.

Tragically, the inquest heard that the first officer to arrive at the scene of the reported burglary found "no evidence of anything untoward" in the area. Despite this, Shae was the subject of toxic comments claiming that he "deserved" what happened to him. Minutes later, he and his two colleagues were asked to help with an incident in Stalybridge town centre – and were flagged down by motorists who had happened upon Shae's fatal smash. Brian Orr, of Greater Manchester Police's serious collision investigation unit, told the inquest that he believed Shae had seen the police car.
