The party launched its childcare policy on Wednesday morning and stated that it would create another 30,000 places in childcare and 'set fair wages for childcare educators'.

Fine Gael will cap childcare fees at €200 per month in its first budget if it is returned to Government.

The policy, launched by Minister Richmond, Justice Minister Helen McEntee, Mary Seery-Kearney and Emer Currie, will cap childcare costs at €200 per month or €600 for a family with more than three children. Fine Gael also said it will examine a second-tier of child benefit and pay-related benefit for those taking Parent’s Leave. It also said that it will create a new permanent double Child Benefit payment that would be paid in August each year.
