A man was hospitalized after sustaining multiple injuries during an assault by five masked men armed with hammers in east Belfast. The attack, which took place at a flat on Templemore Street, was followed by the arson of a motorcycle at the same address.
An investigation is underway following an assault in east Belfast on Wednesday evening. The violent attack occurred at a flat on Templemore Street , involving five masked men armed with hammers who forced entry into the property and assaulted a male occupant. The victim sustained multiple injuries during the assault, and in a subsequent incident believed to be connected, a motorcycle was set ablaze at the same address.
Detective Sergeant McCartan stated: 'Shortly before 8pm police received a report of five masked men armed with hammers breaking into a flat in the Templemore Street area and attacking a man who was in the property. 'The man suffered injuries to his head and body and was taken to hospital for treatment. 'At approximately 5.35am this morning, Thursday 13th February, police received a report that a motorcycle had been set alight in a communal hallway at the same address. 'Colleagues from Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Services attended and extinguished the fire, luckily no one was injured. 'We are treating both incidents as linked and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or to anyone with CCTV, doorbell or other footage that could assist with enquiries to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1601 12/02/24.
