The funeral of former RTÉ journalist Tommie Gorman is to take place in Co Sligo.
The broadcaster and author died on Tuesday at the age of 68.The funeral Mass will take place at 2pm in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Ransboro, near Strandhill.The funeral cortege will first make a farewell journey to The Showgrounds, the home of Mr Gorman's beloved Sligo Rovers.
His wife Ceara, son Joe and daughter Moya will accompany the hearse and the club will form a guard of honour and join the cortege to walk to the church. Yesterday evening, around 3,000 people, including key political and business, figures came to Feehily's Funeral Home in Sligo to pay their respects to Mr Gorman.
Following the funeral Mass this afternoon, Tommie Gorman will be buried nearby in Kilmacowen Cemetery. The RTÉ News Channel will broadcast Tommie Gorman's funeral with coverage from Sligo beginning at 2pm.
