Luca Brecel, the 2023 World Snooker Championship winner, is facing a battle to save his Tour card as he is on the verge of missing out on the top 64 in the rankings
Former snooker world champion Luca Brecel has spoken out about the looming threat to his Tour card due to a dip in form.
His recent departures from the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters and the British Open have added to the strain, but there was hope for a revival starting at the Northern Ireland Open. However, he was defeated 4-1 by Pang Junxu in Belfast, having flown in just before the match started. Luca Brecel showed a tough spirit despite slipping in the two-year rankings and possibly having to battle his way back through Qualifying School. Speaking to BBC Sport, he kept positive, saying: "I'm playing well enough - it's just about bringing my practice game to the match table, then I'll be OK. I just need to get on a run, that will come."
