An email has been sent to customers as their financial information may be at risk after a cyberattack hit Fota's website and some may have to cancel their credit or debit cards

Fota Wildlife Park has issued an urgent warning to customers that their financial information may be at risk following a cyberattack.

In an email to customers, the park explained that anyone who made a purchase on the website between May 12th and August 27th of this year is at risk. "One of the steps that we have taken is to remove all access to the user accounts on the website. We have also engaged external forensic cyber security experts who are investigating the incident on our behalf.

"We can confirm that the incident has been notified to the Data Protection Commission and we are and will cooperate fully with their investigation into the matter. We are also liaising and working with An Garda Siochána."
