Ahead of the big freeze tonight, Met Éireann has placed the entire country under a Status Yellow Ice Warning, with many counties also under a Status Orange Snow and Ice warning and a Status Yellow Snow and Ice warning - but forecasters are saying it is tricky to determine where will see the most...
Met Éireann has issued a slew of weather warning s ahead of an incoming cold spell set to bring hazardous conditions, including significant snowfall, icy roads and widespread travel disruption, as a low-pressure system moves across the country.
Lower snow accumulations are expected in other counties under a Yellow Snow and Ice warning through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, with accumulations of one to five centimetres in 12 hours likely in those areas. “It will rain in many parts at first and it may well stay as rain in some areas, but it will turn to snow. Where? It’s tricky.”
A Status Yellow Low Temperature and Ice warning for all of Ireland will become valid at 8pm on Wednesday and remain in effect until midday on Thursday. Met Éireann warned that snowfall accumulations are expected, with hazardous travelling conditions, poor visibility, travel disruption and animal welfare issues all possible.
